How Facebook Has Helped Glo Salon’s Launch

Glo – Hair, Beauty & Tanning is a stylish city centre salon based in the heart of Norwich.

Salon owner James Neale talks about Glo’s launch and how Facebook has been an integral marketing pillar.

My partner and I bought a beauty business back in December. The plan had been to continue paying rent on the room but I quickly realised that I could buy the salon and have it working for me to earn more money… so 8 weeks later we became the proud owners of the salon along with the 4 staff!!

The figures for the business weren’t brilliant so we negotiated a great price to buy the existing business and I knew that using my knowledge of Facebook adverts, and making full use of their client list we’d get some quick wins.

We took over knowing that it was going to be a tough few months so we had to move fast. We trained up the team, launched Facebook ads targeting women in a 1km radius of the salon, sent emails out to the database and were thrilled when we broke-even in our first month, beating the previous months takings by just over £2000!

January and February were quieter than I liked so we launched a flash sale on certain treatments along with Facebook ads and a competition. We’re doing everything we can to make our customer service brilliant including installing a shiny new coffee machine for fab drinks! I got to work on a new website, write regular blogs, booked a model for a new photo shoot and pushed the prices up of every treatment by a few pounds. With another successful Facebook campaign under way, we’ve just had our best month since taking it over. Looking back at the salon numbers for the last 3 years, it’s been the salons best month EVER!

We’re adding more high end, highly profitable treatments and are taking on 2 more staff members to keep up the great customer service we offer. My target at the beginning of the year was for the salon to be taking £10,000 a month by December 2017 and I now feel like this maybe a little low!

Well, Nigel does say to think big!
